1.      What did parents use to do with their children in their free time?

They used to spend their free with their children. making toy cars, boats and planes with wood or plastic parts.

2.       Because of technology. Many people use technology to communicate throughout cellphones, pcs, emails, etc.

3.      What did people use to do in the past to discover an exciting hobby?

People asked friends or relatives, or looked for information in books in the library.

4.      What did you use to do when you were a little boy to have fun?

I used to play on the streets with my friends. I used to play hide and seek, tin tin corre corre, chucha, golosa, and I had great times when I went to novenas in December.

 

5.      What do you prefer more? Life in the past or life now? Why?

 

Life in the past because I used to go out more and I made face to face friends. I used to be more in direct contact with my friends.

 

ACTIVITY 2 CELEBRATIONS AROUND THE WORLD

Ø  Read about the two festivals that are celebrated in 2 different countries. Which festival sounds more interesting to you and why?

 

The most interesting festival for me is the Chinese new year festival because I think it is nice to celebrate the end of the year at a different time. Moreover, I loved the part of the dragon and the lantern of the festivals.

Ø  Read the text again. Copy and complete the diagram with information about the festivals.

 

Saint Patrick’ day: Irish music, the shamrock, the flag, irish dances, dancing, pubs, parties.

Chinese new year: The dragon, the lanterns, February, Chinese calendar, special food, gifts, fireworks, red envolopes, money, good luck, fire, silk, paper, and bamboo.

BOTH: Parade, good luck, dance.

6.       It is a beautiful city (Venice). We are going to find it in Italy.

7.       It is food. (Tacos). We are going to find them in Mexico.

9.       It is a cathedra. We are going to find it in St Petersburg in Russia.
